Conferences

Bioneers
Bioneers is presented by Collective Heritage Institute, an organization dedicated to providing “practical and visionary solutions for restoring the earth” in areas including health, ecological restoration, business, food, politics, and technology.  Bioneers is recognized as the leading conference in the country for environmental innovators of all stripes.  The Youth program is strong and scholarships for youth are available to this otherwise pricey event.  The Bioneers event is held at the Marin Center in San Rafael in October.

Green Festivals
Since the first event in 2002, Green Festival has remained a model of environmental and social leadership, consistently providing authentic information for consumers on every aspect of green living. While many events and tradeshows are notoriously wasteful, Green Festival demonstrates an unmatched commitment to reducing environmental impact by walking its green talk and reusing, recycling or composting 95 percent or more of show waste.  Green Festival also provides carbon offsets for the entire event and its participating staff and organizers. Green Festival’s circuit includes San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, DC and Seattle.

IMPACT: National Student Conference on Service, Advocacy & Social Action
Join college students, administrators, faculty, national nonprofit organizations, and many others for the historically largest national convening of campus community members involved in service, activism, politics, advocacy, and other socially responsible work across philosophical and ideological lines. This event builds on the legacy set forth by the C.O.O.L. Conference and the Idealist Campus Conference, spanning an incredible 23-year history. This inspiring three-day conference includes a series of forums, plenary sessions, and student-led workshops.

National Service-Learning Conference
The National Service-Learning Conference is the largest gathering of youths and practitioners involved in the service-learning movement, drawing nearly 3,000 attendees from across the United States and 19 other countries.  The conference connects participants with service-learning leaders through three days of plenary sessions, featured forums, and service projects.  It also provides access to ideas and networking opportunities with more than 200 workshops and countless opportunities for informal meetings.

Public Interest Environmental Law Conference
Organized by the students in the environmental law program at the University of Oregon, this is one of the best conferences in the country for environmental activists (not just environmental lawyers).  With world-class speakers and a low price tag for students, it is no wonder David Brower never missed it for 18 years in a row.  The conference is held in early March in Eugene, OR.

Roosevelt Institute Campus Network conferences
The Roosevelt Institution is a non-profit, non-partisan national network of campus-based student think tanks. Its members conduct policy research on the pressing political issues facing our world.  Regional conferences are prime gathering points for the Roosevelt Institution and incorporate training sessions for their students in addition to policy presentations.

Youth Noise Summits
These summits aren’t your average summit.  No lectures, no panels, no experts telling youth what’s right and wrong.  They are activities-based and focused on making sure youth learn from one another first. Part DIT (Do It Together) skill-share, part meet-up, and part party, these are free events about creating grassroots change in local neighborhoods. Come together and talk about issues that truly affect youth and communities, then find creative ways to be a part of the solution.
